Furniture Restoration
We offer a variety of furniture restoration services from scratch repair to complete restoration of a treasured antique. We can match missing or damaged pieces of your antique furniture.
Do you have an old chair that is a family heirloom, and it looks really bad? We can give it a makeover, with new upholstery, cushions, and finish—a whole new look.
Let me take you through the process of a complete restoration.
Identification
First, look at the furniture and identify all repairs that need to be addressed. (Click on any image below for a larger view.)
Disassembly
Next, take the furniture apart and strip off old finish. The stripper used is designed for antiques, so it will not dry out the wood.
Repairs

Now that the old finish, stain, and any glue have been removed, it is time for the repairs to begin. Once the repairs are complete, the furniture is sanded and re-assembled.
Finishing
The furniture has now been prepared for the final phase. First, the wood is treated with a wood conditioner, which allows the stain and finishes to be applied in uniform color. After staining is complete, the finishes are applied. For this project, a coat of boiled linseed oil was applied first, followed by three coats of clear satin lacquer.
Upholstery
Now that the wood is finished, it's time for the upholstery. The original upholstery was worn and not décor friendly. The springs in the seat were broken and uncomfortable when sat on. The springs were removed and replaced with webbing weaved together for the substrate. Next, medium density foam was used for the seat and back, covered in batting. Final touches include securing the fabric to the chair and applying upholstery tacks along the edges. The rocking chair restoration is now complete.

This is the process your treasured furniture will go through when it is restored back to its beautiful luster.
